series.fave.rave: CHARMED

What i love about this series is its SPONTANEITY. I mean, i know its scripted and all.. but when their talking, it is ad if they're really speaking to each other..like its all true. I am a fiction fan, a magic fan, a fantasy fan so this series really clicked to my personality. I guess i'm just the type of person who wants to escape reality and wants to have powers to change my life as well. A girl can totally dream right?

I was never bored with this series. I often watch the marathon version when dvds were not yet available. So far, i haven't watched season 5,6,7 and 8 because my dvd of season 5 isn't working and i didn't want to jump to the next seasons

I've watched season 1 over and over like 5 times already. I like the season because Prue was still there.

As a big fan, i even got the symbol Triquetra as a tattoo (just henna, i chickened out on getting a true-to-life tattoo).

Hmmm.. i guess i'll be editing this post after watching the rest of the episodes.

book.fave.rave: HUNGER (Gone Book 2)

After reading Gone, the first novel of this series, i knew i can't put off reading the next book. First off, i wasn't a big fan of the Diana-Caine romance, but during this book.. i realized i wanted them to be together. I think the book would be miserable without them (haha!). I personally wish that someday, the brothers would work together as friends of some sort. I bet Caine has a good heart underneath all that (and with Diana by his side).  I was intrigued of what the "darkness" was all about and i was relieved that finally i know what it is.

I think, with all that has happened, all the kids really had to grow up fast. Which is why Sam is thinking almost like an adult. As he said in the novel, he can't be a parent to everyone (which yea, i agree..he really can't), but he does anyway. Even though he really wants out, he's a good natured character so he can't help but think of others first. Astrid is a big help to him, helping him think logically. Astrid i think, is an anchor for Sam. And she's also a link to Little Pete (the oh so powerful kid). Some may say that the romance stuff between Astrid and Sam is really awkward or inappropriate, but hey, they need each other, that is also a part of growing up (in an accelerated way). Edilio is always helping out in ways nobody else can. I think he's a better sidekick that Quinn. I hated it when Lana shot him but it worked out well..so whatever. Quinn.. oh man.. i think i'm just starting to like him here. The fish definitely got to me! haha! nice job there. I think it makes perfect sense that he should also have a big role here (being Sam's bff and all) and thank God for the fish right? Lana,, well .. she did what she thought was right at that time although i think that was stupid of her.

I easily liked Brianna's (Breeze) character. She's hard to miss in the book. I was so relieved when she didn't die. I wish he and Jack would have something aside from friendship =). Jack's character is really growing as well. From a geek dude to a Uranium-picking-hulk type of dude. I like it that he stood up for what he wants after everything he's been through.  Uhm, Dekka on the other hand.. has got me feeling awkward. With her crush on Breeze, and her power... i bet book 3 would be more exciting with her (i mean, i'm kind of wondering what her next move would be). Taylor.. taylor taylor.. at first i thought she has this big crush on Sam but no, i think it goes down deep. She looks up to Sam because he saved her. Same as with Brittney looking up to Edilio. It really freaked me out when she knew her heart wasn't beating anymore and she was in some strange zombie state. I guess i'll see more of her in the next book.

I guess that pretty much sums up all of the characters i want to SURVIVE for the next book and the next book and the book after that. haha! ^_^
And it also means I LOVE THE BOOK and love is such a strong word =).

So today is a Thursday. This means tomorrow is Friday. I will be as nervous as i was last Friday.

Its a very routine-ish day again for me.

Doing Laundry while typing.

Waiting for a call or something.

Very routine-ish

Sometimes i hate it. Sometimes i don't.

I think i'm just making the most out of my free time.

Besides, what else is there to do right? haha

So out of boreom, i'm kind of spending the day with lots of fun and enjoyment.

book.fave.rave: GONE

I started reading this book a month ago.. and i still don't have it in me to finish it. Maybe because its emotionally draining. I can't imagine my world without adults around. Yesterday, i read a few chapters in the attempt to finish it, but oh, hey QUINN had me soooo pissed off. I understand why they're acting like it, they're just kids..but i can't help it. The book is great, thrilling and full of suspense. I just can't stand their (the children's ) nsecurities. I myself would be frustrated if there are no adults around to organize everything and help everyone.

I'll be editing this post once i finish the book..

***********

Okay, so i finally finished the book. haha! i was just pissed at the start of the book.. but quite satisfied after that. I guess i also must place this in my "favorites" shelf. It has adventure, a tinge of romance, horror and fun! Just imagine a world where kids just kind of rules. And with "the darkness" lurking around, i bet the second book will be better. Be posting about it once i'm done.

Again.. a healthy, worth it read!
^_^

book.fave.rave: RULES OF ATTRACTION

Okay.. so after reading Perfect Chemistry, i really couldn't let this second book go. I read it right away. And it didn't fail me. I LOVE IT as much as i loved Perfect Chemistry. This book is totally amazing. Of course at first, i was pissed because Carlos was always bashing my favorite character, Alex. But then, i understood where he was coming from and why he was that way at first. He's just a rebel on the inside, but dammnnn does he have LOTS OF SELF CONFIDENCE, and lots of humor aside from that. Kiara is definitely a new idol for me.. she wears baggy clothes, good at fixing cars, a good girl and sexy as well! I think their paring is really awesome! I also love Kiara's dad (actually, her family is just soooo perfect!) for being such a cool, loving and protective dad. But of course, this is again, a happily ever after book. Super liked and loved this! =)

movie.fave.rave: STARDUST

WHAT DO STARS DO?... SHINE

I dreamed of writing about Stardust since the first time i watched it. Its too bad i never got to see it on big screen. Anyway, now i get to make that dream come true haha! I LOOOOVVVEEE STARDUST. I love everything about it, i love Evane, I love Tristan, I even love Dunstan (his dad!). This movie is just, breath taking and timeless. I have watched it more than 10 times! And i must say.. i never get bored! I love the effects especially of Evane shining. Everybody loves a happy ending, and that is what Stardust have. Adventure, romance, Action and humor.. that is what Stardust is all about. I love it and i will always have it in my favorite movie list. A five out of five stars! ^_^

book.fave.rave: PERFECT CHEMISTRY

So, after months and months of this book just sitting on my ezreader, i figure i should read it now because everyone says its worth it. No surprise there, IT REALLY IS WORTH IT. I was awake til 3:30AM because of this book. At first i thought it was a typical "the more you hate the more you love" story, but its not.. its just MORE THAN THAT. This book touches various topics with regards race, romance, status in life, family problems and so many others. I love it because the book gives a glimpse of life between both worlds and the romance along the way. Of course, as i have been previously saying.. i love stories with a "happily ever after", so i give this book a five out of five.. PERFECT indeed. =)

book.fave.rave: AMARANTH ENCHANTMENT

I must admit, i read this book because i was attracted to the front cover. But this book is not "all talk" or in this case, "all cover". The story is somewhat, a fairy tale. I like it because its a light hearted fun read. They all lived happily ever after and all. I am a big fan of disney movies and yeah, i have a thing for princes and princesses. I am very happy i read this. ^_^

book.rave: LETTERS TO A SECRET LOVER

I kind of guessed the mystery behind the "GINA" tattoo in the middle of reading this book. It was an "okay" read hmm, 4 out of five stars, i guess.  Maybe just okay because the story became pretty much predictable the moment he (the main character) revealed his secret. But i like it that Lindsey/Abby never changed her aura as a very sassy girl. I just kind of hated Rob's frustrations and fears because they were, for me, wholly unnecessary but hey, there goes the whole plot for ya!

friend.fave.rave: ABI

My first post introducing my barkada..

A - Attractive
B - Briliiant
I - Intelligent

I've known her ever since i can remember. She used to be the smallest girl in the class. USED TO BE. My first memory of her is when her father came to the school to fetch her. My uncle forgot that we had an early dismissal so i was still waiting for him. I saw Abi walking towards her father and i said to my self "someday, Papa will also fetch me" (My father was always in another country, working). Her dad knows my uncle as well as Papa ( maybe they got to know each other while waiting? who knows ) so he (her dad) approached me and asked me where my "sundo" was. I told him i didn't know and he told me to stay put. That probably was the first time i admired her dad (always there and all..)

Abi and i were never close in grade school. She was just some short, slim, braniac kid who's always being sent to quiz bees (haha, am i bitter or what? i only entered twice in my whole life). We were pretty much strangers. I saw her, passed her but never talked to her since we were never seatmates, well.. not that i remember so far. Anyway... highschool came and we got together. And oh damnn she was taller, more lean and nicer =) . I will never figure out how or why we all became close (me and my barkada). But there you have it.

Abi is and always will be the braniac i knew. She's smart, hard to fool (well i'd like to think that she's really hard to fool or else.. hmm), practical and attentive (attentive enough that i also think she has an EYE FOR DETAILS physically hahaha). In college, i even thought she was isolating herself, duh, it payed of eventually.

After all this years.. i realized that i see Abi as a strong person. Strong in a way that she doesn't back down against odds.. pressure or whatever. She has a BIG sense of humor. I think it helped that she started as sort of a geek student type.. and then became the friend i know today. She grew up in a (sorry if this sounds too cheesy i just couldn't replace it with another word) blooming way. She's prettier than ever and knows how to have fun. Love seems to be buzzing around everyday. I teased her because she has so many kittens at home. I told her she may grow old to be an old maid, but, i know its not true (won't ever be true as a matter of fact because as a friend i'll push her off a building before she decides to be an old maid).

With all the characteristics and her attitude towards life.. i know Abi will always succeed in whatever she takes on in life. =)

So for now.. thats all i can say about my dear friend Abi.. since i can and will eventually edit this post someday.

book.fave.rave: GRACELING

Katsa has been able to kill a man with her bare hands since she was eight — she’s a Graceling, one of the rare people in her land born with an extreme, and in her case horrifying, skill. As niece of the king, she should be able to live a life of privilege, but Graced as she is with killing, she is forced to work as the king’s thug. When she first meets Prince Po, Graced with combat skills, Katsa has no hint of how her life is about to change.
She never expects to become Po’s friend. She never expects to learn a new truth about her own Grace — or about a terrible secret that lies hidden far away... a secret that could destroy all seven kingdoms with words alone.

Hmm.. where to start?

I LOVE THIS BOOK FROM PAGE ONE UNTIL THE VERY END

Why?

It has every aspect of a GREEAATT novel one like me could ever look for. The main character, Katsa, will forever be one my IDOL characters eveeerr. She portrays fierceness, courage, kindness and loyalty. She and Po deserves a happy ending because of everything they've been through in this book.

To Po: Don't worry, i love you even if you're blind. ^_^

book.fave.rave: HUNGER GAMES SERIES

At first, i didn't want to read this book. With all the anti-twilight people who continuously mock twilight with this series, doubt came over me. I thoughti wouldn't like it. But oh hell was i wrong in every way. I LOVE IT! The moment i turned the pages, i couldn't stop reading it. Hunger games is a breath of fresh air from all the paranormal/supernatural novels thats been going around (y/a genre). I loved it with all my heart even though i was a bit disappointed with the ending (MOCKINGJAY) because i thought it was anticlimactic.

Anywayyy.. Hunger games will always be a very good read to me. =)

music.fave.rave: YOU'RE IN MY HEART

While reading LINE OF SCRIMMAGE by Marie Force, this song came up somewhere along the book. I wasn't sure that this was the song..well, not until i heard it again... Daaaammnn, his version will never get old. I love this song forever and ever!

I finished this book 2am in the morning..and its definitely worth it.
The story for me is really possible. I mean it can really happen to anybody.
This book is definitely a 5 STAR for me! i recommend it! ^_^

With their divorce just days from being final, she's already planning a wedding with her new fiance...

He's finally figured out what's really important to him. If only it's not too late...

movie.fave.rave: My childhood movies

MATILDA

I watched this hmmm like more than 10 times, as every child does. I went through that phase wherein i just had to memorize every lines they had and every scene i watched because i love the movie!

A grouchy couple give birth to a very sweet girl they name Matilda. Unlike her bratty brother and mean parents, Matilda becomes a very sweet and extremely intelligent girl who is very anxious to go to school and read books.

After a while, her parents send her to a school with the worst principal in the world, a very sweet teacher, and good friends. While trying to
put up with her parent's and principal's cruelty, she develops telekinetic powers.

BABY'S DAY OUT

I adore children.. and baby Bink is one verrryyy cute angel! I could never resist watching it once i see our copy of it.

Baby Bink couldn't ask for more; he has adoring (if somewhat sickly-sweet) parents, he lives in a huge mansion, and he's just about to appear in the social pages of the paper. Unfortunately, not everyone in the world is as nice as Baby Bink's parents; especially the three enterprising kidnapers who pretend to be photographers from the newspaper. Successfully kidnaping Baby Bink, they have a harder time keeping hold of the rascal, who not only keeps one step ahead of them, but seems to be more than a little bit smarter than the three bumbling criminals.

LITTLE RASCALS

Who would ever forget these rascals! (weird because of course, now  i think we're of the same age. haha!)
I love this movie because it shows the creativity of kids and little problems in their little world.

Spanky and the members of the He-Man Woman Haters Club find out that Alfalfa has been courting Darla. After a trial they sentence him to forget about her and other girls forever. Alfalfa is having trouble with his punishment, partularly since the new rich kid is moving in on his territory, and he works to win her back. Meanwhile Butch and Woim are trying to steal the gang's prized go-cart for the big derb coming up. The gang has monetary problems too, since they need to build a new clubhouse, but are having a hard time raising the money.

What's good about being me...

>You'll have Valentines day as your birthday
>You get to have great set of parents as well as a large extended family
>You get to live with your cousins whom you treat like your first friends since you have no choice because you live together and all
>You will play virtually every street game as a child

>You get to move twice! (except for the years that you dont remember well, like when you were still a year old or so)
>You get to have honors but not consistently 'coz you're so stubborn
>You get to have a good voice, not for showers only.. but for the stage baby! yea! haha
>You get to enjoy fame @ school because you're so damn friendly! (kiddddiiinngg)
>You get to have TRUE friends in highschool and although you part ways in college, you will always come back to them because they're your REAL OLDEST MOST LOYAL (cough*cough*) friends eeevveerr!!
>You get to have a slim bod as a teenager (only as a teenager)
>You get to be good @ flirting in highschool too bad you're too shy in college

>You graduate with acceptable grades
>You PASS the friggin BOARD EXAM!
>You become a POSITIVE THINKING BUM
>You get to have the motto "TOMORROW IS ALWAYS ANOTHER DAY"

basically.. that sums it all up =)

book.fave.rave: Morganville Vampires

Why i LOVE this series?

>Action Packed, full of adventures
>Friendship RULEZZ!
>Its also not a typical vampire story
>Vampires doesn't seem invincible
>Claire is a super braniac who evolves into wonder woman!
>Of course, full of romance (i love ya shane!!!)
>Plot thickens in every book
>Just when you thought its over.....well, its not
>Never fails to amaze and surprise me!
>all in all.. a very good read =)

reblog: My ebook reader Sep 20, '10 11:30 AM

Like every bookworm i know, i just can't get enough of reading . I can read a book in an hour or 2, that's a novel. Believe me, i have lots of books.. as in hundreds of them. But eventually, i got tired of looking for bargain books (I used to buy old books.. like 1980's OLD). Don't get me wrong, i love book hunting especially in booksale, but yeah, it gets tiresome and i end up buying the wrong books because i usually get enticed with the front cover ugh!  bad habit.. i know.. So, i decided to try ebooks..

The first ebook i tried is TWILIGHT.. haha! its really funny how patient i was back then because i read it on my desktop. I knew that it didn't help my eyes so after that, i tried reading ebooks using my nintendo ds (using a program named NDS READER)... used that method for about 3 months or so.. and then i discovered that i can read using my psp as well.. so i also tried that.

ADVANTAGE FOR NDS (DS READER): small, handy, fast switch of pages, i can read for about 5-8 hours on the minimum light, you can load your own fonts
DISADVANTAGE FOR NDS: the size is also a disadvantage since naturally, the fonts are smaller although you can set it to be bigger, eye strain, only .txt files can be read (though its not really a big disadvantage since its easy for me to convert), bookmarks are lost/corrupted once you turn off the nds

some pics of that..(notice that my NDS is also pink haha!)

ADVANTAGE FOR PSP (BOOKR) : you can choose your color combination (bg&text), you can load your own fonts, small and handy as well, bookmark works like a charm, you can read .pdf/.txt but .txt is better for me
DISADVANTAGE FOR PSP: Biggest disadvantage is the battery life, my psp is 1 year and half old so the battery is kind of busted nowadays, i can read for 2-3 hours only. the small size also becomes a disadvantage.. it causes eye strain since i don't want to make the fonts really big because i have to change pages often.

some pics..

I tried both, it worked and i love both devices ..its just that i've been wearing glasses since i was 14 years old.. i am now 21 and i don't want to make the grade of my lenses higher than what i can control it to be.

Mid of June.. i read some posts on a certain website about EBOOK READERS. I found out that there are lots and lots of ebook reading device. I eventually decided that i would like to buy one.. and so the search began. From June- September, i looked for the perfect dedicated reading device which i can buy locally.. Unfortunately.. it costs double the price if you buy it outside the country  (thru internet). I was hopeless for a while because i didn't want to use my mom's credit card. But then, i found out thru symbianize about JOHNNY AIR CARGO.. a second party courier. Apparently, they can order for me online (using Johnny air cargo's credit card) and i would just have to pay them cash IN PESO. At first i thought, this is too good to be true because it answers all of my problems. But then.. i decided to give it a go.. so on SEPTEMBER 3, 2010.. i went to their Makati Branch and filled up a form which was emailed to me two days before (i called their makati branch 2 days earlier).

The computation below is what i paid on September 3, 2010 for ordering

Cost of item               $149
Inland Shipping            $17
Credit Card Charge    $25

Total                             $191  x P44.55 airline rates = P8,891.05

after ordering, i waited and then presto! after 16 days, JAC texted me yesterday that my package was now available for pick up .. so i went to JAC Gil puyat branch (i asked if i can just pick it up in that branch)... They charge 7.50 per pound..the ebook reader i ordered was 4 pounds

Here's what i paid for earlier today:

$4 X $7.50 = $30 plus 12% vat

45.45 FOREX = P1,781.64

So what ebook reader did i really order? Its ASTAK 5" EZREADER POCKET PRO

WHY DID I CHOOSE ASTAK 5" EZREADER PRO? Well.. you can say that i'm really a fan of the color PINK , not the biggest reason, but still.. part of it. Also, it supports LOTS OF FILE FORMATS  PDFTXTRTFEPUBLITPPTWOLFDOCCHMFB2
HTMLDJVUMP3TIFFJPGGIFBMPPNGRARZIP,MOBI
And for a first ereader, this is quite good. I didn't want to jump to the kindle bandwagon right away.. maybe someday when they offer a device which is bigger and better in a lower price. Don't get me wrong, i wanted to buy a K3 but then, astak made me change my mind..
I ordered it in pink.. and i love the fact that my color preference was granted

here are some pics

This is the box..it was sealed when i first got it @ JAC gil puyat branch

And here is what's inside, you can see the box of the ezreader pro and scattered inside are some foams for protection

The Box...

This is my pink astak pocket pro

A picture of when it starts up (still with plastic)

A sample picture from my BLUE BLOODS novel, still with plastic

From Mortal instruments, City of Glass

A picture of it with the sleeve cover

The cover...

Pretty much all of the contents with the boxes

A picture from one of my favorite manga today.. Kaichou wa! Maid Sama

Its great to have this device since i REALLY REALLY LOVE READING and sometimes i feel addicted to it haha .. This post is for those like me.. and those who are not like me!
